New project I am doing with lyssa

OK, so I can let the cat out of the bag.

With the recent release of iTunes 4.9 Podcasting has become the hip new thing. Everyone is talking about it and even more people are doing it. The problem lies with fans of independent music. Your only options out there are daily tracks from music blogs, podcast "programs" that are really just audio label catalogs for indie labels, or crappy, over produced programs that reek of cheesy radio and exist to sell ads, not promote solid new music.

75 Minutes is a new program that I am hosting weekly with my wife Lyssa. It's focused primarily on all aspects of independent music. Not just indie rock, but music that is created outside of the sphere of the RIAA. We are working with 7 other contributors on a weekly basis to select the music for the show and compile the content. It's one of the most profressional sounding programs I've ever done and is a great resource for any of you that are just absolutely sick to death of the radio. Why call it 75 Minutes? Well, it's 75 Minutes long each week and will easily fit onto a blank CD so you can burn it and run.

If you check out the website you'll see there are three options for listening. The first is via the flash player on the site. This streams the mp3 version of the show straight from your web browser. Quite nice, especially for those of you behind firewalls at work. Secondly, you can download either an mp3 or aac version of the show by clicking the listen now link. The mp3 version is a straight mp3 file. The aac version is enhanced (the enhancements only work in iTunes 4.9) with chapter markers that allow you to skip forward and backward throughout the program making it easy to skiip songs you don't like and relisten to the ones you do as well as album art for each track and artist links for each artist, all within the file. Finally, you can subscribe to either version of the file as a podcast feed. Every week when the program is uploaded to the site it'll automatically download onto your computer and you can listen to it at your leisure.

So that's it. I'm super excited on the show. Definitely keep an eye on it. Last night was our first program, and it was a tiny bit sketchy as we felt our way around and figured out what we wanted to do, but it turned out really cool and is only going to get better.

75 minutes

Hi Mike,

Do you and Lyssa talk like a regular radio show or is it just music?
